Job Position(s): Software Developer – Nuke Remote, 3 Locations
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

DNEG is hiring a Software Developer with Nuke expertise across three locations in India, with remote work available alongside offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai. This role sits within Production Technology and Software Product Development, focused on building and maintaining tools that directly support compositing pipelines used on major feature film and television VFX productions. It suits a developer who understands how compositors actually work and wants to write software that solves real problems on the floor.

About the Role

You will be embedded in the production technology team, writing software that integrates with and extends Nuke across active VFX pipelines. The work spans tool development, pipeline integration, and supporting the compositing department through production cycles on high-volume feature film and episodic television projects. Day to day, you are writing code, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and working directly with compositing supervisors and TDs to understand where tools are breaking down or missing entirely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Nuke plugins and gizmos that address specific compositing workflow requirements across live productions.
  • Develop Python and C++ tools that integrate with the broader VFX pipeline, including asset management systems and render farm infrastructure.
  • Work with compositing leads to identify bottlenecks in post-production workflow and spec out software solutions that reduce manual overhead.
  • Maintain and improve existing production technology codebases, ensuring stability across different show configurations and Nuke versions.
  • Contribute to internal software releases, writing documentation and handling QA in collaboration with technical directors and department heads.
  • Support cross-site deployments across DNEG’s India locations, ensuring tools behave consistently regardless of where the team is based.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience developing tools for Nuke within a professional VFX studio or post-production environment.
  • Strong Python skills, with working knowledge of C++ and the Nuke NDK for plugin development.
  • Familiarity with compositing concepts including colour science, multi-pass rendering, and node-based workflows.
  • Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline, ideally across feature film production or high-end episodic television.
  • Comfort operating in a remote or distributed team environment, coordinating across time zones and production schedules.

Why This Role

DNEG is one of the most consistently credited VFX facilities in the world, with work spanning major studio franchise films and prestige television productions. The Production Technology team here has direct influence on how shows get made, with access to real production context that most developer roles at software vendors simply cannot offer. The remote option, combined with three established India offices, gives genuine flexibility without sacrificing proximity to the work.

Apply now for the Software Developer, Nuke position at DNEG and bring your pipeline development experience to one of the industry’s most recognised VFX studios.
