About the Role

The Associate Compositor works inside Harbor Picture Company’s post-production pipeline, contributing to VFX-heavy productions that require precise technical execution and a sharp eye for how composited images read on screen. Day to day, this means handling paint and roto work at the start and, as the role develops, taking on 2D and 3D tracking tasks and integrating CG elements into live action plates. The position is built around progression, giving someone at the associate level real access to complex VFX workflow and senior artist oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform paint and rotoscoping tasks to support shot cleanup and element isolation within the compositing pipeline.
• Execute 2D and 3D tracking to lock CG elements accurately to live action plates across a range of shot types.
• Integrate rendered CG assets into live action footage, matching lighting, grain, and colour to achieve continuity with surrounding shots.
• Apply masking techniques to isolate subjects and layers, supporting clean separation between foreground, midground, and background elements.
• Work to brief from the Lead Compositor, flagging technical issues and iterating on shots through internal review cycles.
• Contribute to productions spanning advertising, episodic television, and feature film formats within the VFX post-production workflow.

What You Bring

• Some professional experience in a compositing role, whether at junior or associate level, within a post-production or VFX studio environment.
• Working knowledge of industry-standard compositing software, with Nuke being the expected primary tool in this pipeline.
• Familiarity with roto and paint techniques, plus an understanding of how 3D passes are structured and used in CG integration.
• Credits across at least one production type, whether advertising, television, or film, demonstrating applied compositing work in a professional setting.
