This role sits within SPE’s Corporate Development Group, driving mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments across the EMEA region in support of the company’s international production and distribution businesses. About the Role
The Director, Corporate Development reports to the VP of Corporate Development and works closely with the global corporate development team in Los Angeles, acting as the primary deal and strategy resource for Sony Pictures International Distribution and International Production across EMEA. Day to day, this means scanning the television and digital media landscape for acquisition targets, running valuation analyses, preparing investment committee materials, and managing due diligence processes from first look through close. It is a senior individual contributor role with cross-functional deal team leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across Pay TV, Free TV, and digital platforms in EMEA, translating market intelligence into investment recommendations aligned with SPE’s strategic priorities.
- Lead detailed financial and valuation analyses supporting new business launches, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic alliances within the international television and digital media space.
- Run financial and commercial due diligence on acquisition targets, including review of financial statements, operating forecasts, and key risk factors.
- Structure and execute transactions in partnership with internal stakeholders and external legal, financial, and commercial advisors, covering valuation, governance, and deal terms.
- Prepare executive-level presentations and business plans that deliver clear recommendations on financial returns, strategic fit, and material risks for senior leadership review.
- Mentor junior team members and lead cross-functional deal teams to maintain a high standard of output across the corporate development function.
What You Bring
- Seven or more years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate development, with direct exposure to the media and entertainment industry.
- Meaningful experience covering television and digital media transactions or strategy, ideally including episodic television, streaming, or international production.
- Established knowledge of and relationships within EMEA markets, with the ability to source market intelligence through the regional business community.
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, with demonstrated experience producing investment analyses and deal documentation.
- MBA preferred, with a bachelor’s degree required.
