This is a post-production role sitting within the marketing content team, with sole ownership of editing raw footage into finished short-form video assets distributed across social platforms. It suits an editor who is comfortable working across the full post-production workflow independently, from first assembly through to final export.

About the Role

The editor works directly within Jumpstart’s marketing department, cutting content that promotes growth-stage startups to UK audiences. Projects are social-first videos, meaning hooks, pacing, and platform-specific formatting are the core craft considerations on every cut. A typical day involves reviewing rushes, building rough cuts, incorporating feedback from filming teams, and delivering polished final cuts to the wider marketing group.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit raw footage into short-form social video content, applying post-production workflow best practices from rough cut through picture lock.
• Construct hooks and pacing structures that drive scroll-stopping engagement across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
• Collaborate with filming crews during the handoff of raw media to ensure consistency between shoot intent and editorial output.
• Apply sound design, music selection, and basic colour grading to lift the quality of each cut to broadcast-ready standard.
• Manage multiple edits simultaneously, maintaining organised project files and version control across all deliverables.
• Shape storytelling decisions within short-form content, identifying the strongest narrative arc from available footage on each project.

What You Bring

• A minimum of one year of professional editing experience on social or digital video content.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut, with the ability to deliver finished cuts in either platform.
• A demonstrable understanding of short-form video storytelling, with a reel or portfolio showing real commercial or branded content work.
• Experience cutting content for at least one major social platform, with knowledge of aspect ratios, caption formats, and platform compression.
• The ability to work within a marketing-led post-production environment, taking creative direction from non-editors and translating it into editorial choices.
