Job Type
Wire & Wood is hiring a Production Sound Mixer for their acoustic listening room in Greeneville, TN. This role covers the full scope of live sound production, from pre-show stage prep and soundcheck through front-of-house mixing and stage management across solo acts, acoustic duos, and full band performances. It suits a working sound professional who is comfortable operating a digital console in a live music venue and can take ownership of the technical and logistical side of each show.
About the Role
The Production Sound Mixer at Wire & Wood operates within a professional live sound environment built around a Midas M32R digital console, handling everything from intimate singer-songwriter sets to touring acts and open mic nights. A typical show day includes reviewing stage plots and input lists, building the stage from the ground up, running soundcheck, mixing the performance, and coordinating artist timing from load-in through final bow. The venue also runs a multi-camera recording system with OBS, so familiarity with audio routing for live recording or streaming is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and execute artist stage plots and input lists, communicating technical requirements with performers, management, and Wire & Wood staff before each show.
- Set up and test microphones, direct boxes, monitor wedges, stands, and cabling for configurations ranging from a single acoustic guitar to multichannel band setups.
- Run front-of-house mix and stage monitor mix simultaneously, maintaining gain structure, EQ, compression, and effects appropriate for a listening room environment.
- Troubleshoot feedback, routing issues, cable failures, and monitor problems in real time without disrupting the performance.
- Manage stage transitions between multiple acts, keeping the evening on schedule in coordination with the artist liaison and venue staff.
- Power down, coil, and secure all audio equipment after each show, and report any damaged gear or supply needs to the appropriate staff.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience mixing live music in a professional venue setting.
- Hands-on proficiency with digital mixing consoles, specifically large-format boards with onboard signal processing.
- Working knowledge of signal flow, gain staging, bus routing, and monitor mixing in a live sound production context.
- Experience with audio routing for video capture or live streaming is useful but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work calmly with performers, crew, and venue staff under show conditions.
Why This Role
Wire & Wood is a working acoustic listening room with a consistent performance calendar that includes local and touring artists, giving the Production Sound Mixer steady, varied live sound work in a professionally equipped venue. The position covers both the engineering and stage management sides of the show, which means real responsibility and full ownership of the production from the moment the artist arrives. For a sound professional building a regional live production resume, this role offers consistent reps on a quality system.
Apply now for the Production Sound Mixer position at Wire & Wood and bring your live sound experience to one of East Tennessee’s dedicated listening rooms.
