Vancouver Actors Guide is casting two principal roles for The Corporate Bug, a short film production based in Vancouver, BC. This is a Vancouver Film School project seeking actors to fill character-driven roles in a workplace drama that explores class, ambition, and the personal cost of professional success. The project suits performers with strong dramatic range who are comfortable carrying scenes with psychological and emotional weight.

About the Role

The Corporate Bug is a short film production operating under a volunteer agreement, with on-set compensation provided for actors working longer shooting days. The two roles, Dwayne and Jordana, anchor the story and require actors who can sustain character across a realistic corporate setting. Typical work on set involves character-driven scenes that rely heavily on naturalistic performance rather than action or stunt work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portray Dwayne, a male character aged 30 to 50, a working family man navigating daily stress with quiet resignation and understated emotional depth.
  • Portray Jordana, a female character aged 30 to 40, a CEO whose leadership is shaped by her background and tested by the ethical compromises that come with holding institutional power.
  • Prepare and deliver character-specific performance choices that serve the dramatic needs of a short film production narrative.
  • Collaborate with the VFS directing team to develop scene-level motivations consistent with the script and production vision.
  • Attend all scheduled rehearsals and principal photography days as required by the production schedule.
  • Submit audition materials including a current CV, headshots, demo reel, and any relevant demographic information as part of the casting process.

What You Bring

  • Prior on-camera acting experience in short film, student film, or other screen production contexts.
  • A current demo reel that demonstrates dramatic performance range.
  • Professional headshots suitable for casting review.
  • An acting CV with relevant credits and training listed clearly.
  • Age-appropriate appearance for the specified character ranges, Dwayne at 30 to 50 and Jordana at 30 to 40.

Why This Role

Vancouver Actors Guide is a long-standing free resource for the Vancouver acting community, and this production is connected to Vancouver Film School, giving performers access to a structured student production environment. Actors working more than six hours on set receive ten dollars in lunch compensation. For performers building screen credits in the Vancouver market, short film production work like The Corporate Bug provides meaningful material for reel development.
