Job Date: Internship

Disney is hiring an Associate Costume Buyer for its Live Entertainment division, based in Lake Buena Vista, FL. This role sits within the costume buying department and focuses on sourcing and procuring garments, textiles, trims, and related materials that go directly into themed entertainment productions across Disney parks, resort hotels, and cruise ships. It suits a sourcing or production professional with a background in garment and textile supply chain who wants structured exposure to large-scale entertainment costume procurement.

About the Role

The Associate Costume Buyer works within Disney Live Entertainment, the team responsible for producing shows, parades, and character experiences seen at theme parks and beyond. Day-to-day work involves processing purchase orders in SAP, coordinating with domestic and international vendors, and tracking production timelines to keep costume builds on schedule. This is a project hire and internal assignment with no guarantee of permanent placement, so the role is best suited to someone looking to build foundational buying credits within a major entertainment costume operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requests for garments, fabrics, trims, notions, and accessories across defined commodity categories using approved sources of supply and existing contract terms.
  • Manage vendor coordination by following up on order status, flagging production variances, and communicating timeline risks to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Set up and maintain purchase orders in SAP, monitor delivery dates, and resolve order discrepancies before they affect the costume production schedule.
  • Support onboarding of new domestic and international suppliers within a defined scope, including research and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate material shipments to manufacturing partners, verify receipt of goods, and address overdue or incomplete deliveries.
  • Assist senior buyers with garment bid packages, contributing data on cost, quality, and delivery to support sourcing decisions.

What You Bring

  • At least one year of experience in garment and textile sourcing, costume production, or supply chain management.
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, materials terminology, and basic manufacturing specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP purchasing modules or Coupa, with ERP procurement workflow familiarity considered a strong plus.
  • Experience with PLM software for product development and lifecycle management is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple purchase orders across overlapping production timelines with strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays and to travel between locations as the production schedule requires.

Why This Role

Disney Live Entertainment operates one of the largest themed entertainment costume programs in the world, giving buyers direct exposure to complex garment sourcing across a broad range of production types. For a costume or textile sourcing professional early in their career, the scale of the supply chain and the variety of materials involved, from performance fabrics to specialty trims, represents genuine professional development that few employers can match. This is a project hire position, and the scope and visibility of Disney’s ongoing live entertainment production slate make it a meaningful credit regardless of duration.

Apply now for the Associate Costume Buyer role at Disney in Lake Buena Vista, FL, and take the next step in your costume production career.
