Job Position(s): Pipeline ATD (VFX)
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

DNEG is hiring a Pipeline ATD (VFX) based in the United Kingdom. This entry-level Production Technology role sits within DNEG’s Pipeline group, where the person filling it keeps the tools, software, and workflows running across live VFX and feature animation productions. It suits someone with a solid technical foundation who wants hands-on experience inside a VFX pipeline from day one rather than working toward it.

About the Role

The Pipeline ATD works directly alongside Pipeline Technical Directors to support artists across DNEG’s production slate, which spans blockbuster feature films and episodic television dramas. Day to day, this role sits at the intersection of artist-facing support and backend pipeline maintenance, meaning you are as likely to be troubleshooting a Maya workflow issue on the floor as you are monitoring render farm performance or testing a new software release from the R&D team. It is one of the more complete views of a VFX pipeline available at the ATD level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical support and advice to VFX artists, translating pipeline issues clearly between production technology staff and non-technical crew.
  • Monitor render farm activity, disk usage, and file transfers across multiple studio sites to keep post-production workflow running without interruption.
  • Design and write Python scripts and tools built to the specific requirements of individual shows in production.
  • Participate in testing and structured feedback cycles for software releases coming out of the R&D team before they reach the artist floor.
  • Take ownership of technical tasks independently when Pipeline TDs are focused elsewhere, using sound judgment about prioritisation and escalation.
  • Work across a range of DCC applications to support artists on productions that may use Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Katana, or Clarisse depending on the show.

What You Bring

  • Solid working knowledge of Maya and practical Python scripting skills applied to a production or technical context.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment, either professionally or through project work.
  • Familiarity with additional DCC packages such as Houdini, Nuke, Katana, or Clarisse is a plus.
  • Prior work experience in VFX, games, or a related production industry is valued but not required.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field is helpful, not mandatory.

Why This Role

DNEG is a multi-Academy Award winning VFX studio with productions spanning major studio features and streaming series, which means the Pipeline ATD here is working on material that actually reaches a global audience. The Pipeline group has a clear progression path through Pipeline TD and Pipeline Supervisor levels, with lateral moves into other technical specialisms possible as you build credits. The team itself draws from a wide range of backgrounds and countries, which makes for a technically deep environment to grow in.

Apply now for the Pipeline ATD (VFX) position at DNEG and take your first step into production technology at one of the most credited VFX houses working today.
