About the Role

The Associate Editor reports to the Director of Editorial and works across Disney’s portfolio of branded publishing programs, coordinating with writers, designers, licensors, and production partners to bring books and digital content to market. Day to day, this person is tracking schedules, reviewing manuscripts and layouts, managing approval rounds with internal and external stakeholders, and keeping multiple titles moving simultaneously. The work spans concept development through final delivery, touching both print publishing workflow and digital publishing formats.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned titles across all phases of the publishing lifecycle, from initial concept through final file delivery to print and digital distribution partners.
• Review manuscripts and layouts for editorial accuracy, consistency with franchise standards, and overall content quality before licensor approval rounds.
• Coordinate feedback and approvals between internal franchise teams, legal, marketing, external authors, and freelance contributors.
• Maintain project schedules and milestone tracking across multiple titles in a deadline-driven publishing environment.
• Collaborate with creative and production teams to ensure content meets brand guidelines across all formats and audience categories.
• Contribute editorial ideas that strengthen content development workflows and improve the reader experience across licensed publishing programs.

What You Bring

• Two or more years of editorial, publishing, media, or content development experience in a professional setting.
• Hands-on copyediting, proofreading, and manuscript evaluation skills applied in a production environment.
• Experience managing freelance contributors and external publishing partners through approval and revision cycles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office across document management and project tracking tasks.
• Familiarity with digital publishing formats and workflows is preferred, as is experience in children’s publishing or licensed entertainment content.
