About the Role

You will be embedded in the CBS Colorado newsroom, working alongside reporters as part of a tight editorial team that covers the full range of local news across the Denver market. Daily work spans field acquisition, live shot operation, and non-linear editing, all timed to hard newscast deadlines. This is a freelance, per diem position, meaning scheduling will include weekends and varied shifts depending on the news cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot compelling, broadcast-quality video content in the field alongside reporters covering breaking news, severe weather, and community stories across Colorado.
• Operate ENG news vans and station vehicles to reach assignments, reporting any maintenance issues to a supervisor promptly.
• Conduct and support live shots in variable field conditions, ensuring picture and audio quality meet broadcast standards.
• Edit daily news packages on non-linear editing systems, delivering finished cuts within newscast deadlines.
• Maintain assigned broadcast ENG camera equipment in working order and flag technical problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Uphold editorial, ethical, and professional standards consistent with Paramount and CBS News policies throughout all production activities.

What You Bring

• 2 to 3 years of experience in video photojournalism, ideally within a broadcast news production environment.
• Hands-on experience operating broadcast ENG cameras and the physical ability to carry camera packages of 25 lbs. or more, including tripods and lighting equipment.
• Familiarity with evolving newsgathering technologies and non-linear editing workflows, with experience in Avid products considered a strong advantage.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with an unrestricted driving record, required for operating station vehicles.
• Availability to work weekends, extended hours, and rotating shifts in all weather conditions as broadcast schedules demand.
