Job Type
Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Motion Designer on a temporary basis in New York, New York. This role sits within the post-production and creative marketing pipeline, producing motion graphics, animated titles, and visual content that supports broadcast and streaming programming across the WBD portfolio. It’s a strong fit for a mid-level motion designer who has worked across episodic television, network branding, or digital content and knows how to move quickly without sacrificing quality.
About the Role
The Motion Designer will work within a creative team that supports on-air and digital content for Warner Bros. Discovery’s programming slate, which spans news, sports, entertainment, and streaming. Day-to-day work involves concepting and executing motion graphics from brief to delivery, working alongside editors, producers, and creative directors within an active post-production workflow. Turnarounds are real and deadlines are tied to air dates, so familiarity with broadcast production schedules is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and animate motion graphics for broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms using industry-standard post-production tools.
- Develop visual concepts from internal creative briefs, presenting work through iterative rounds of feedback with producers and creative leads.
- Build and maintain organized After Effects project files with clean pre-comps, labeled layers, and properly structured assets for handoff.
- Adapt existing brand templates and style guides to new content without drifting from established on-air look and feel.
- Export and deliver finished assets in broadcast-spec formats, coordinating with the technical operations team to meet delivery requirements.
- Contribute motion design assets to campaigns that run across linear television and digital platforms simultaneously.
What You Bring
- Minimum 3 years of professional motion design experience, preferably within broadcast television, a streaming platform, or an animation studio.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, with a working knowledge of Cinema 4D considered a strong asset.
- A portfolio that demonstrates motion graphics work across episodic television, network branding, or digital content production.
- Ability to work within established brand systems and deliver polished work under tight production timelines.
- Strong understanding of file management, asset organization, and delivery specs for broadcast and streaming environments.
Why This Role
Warner Bros. Discovery operates one of the largest content portfolios in the industry, covering linear cable, streaming via Max, and sports broadcasting, which means the work produced here reaches a wide audience across multiple platforms. This temporary Motion Designer position offers direct exposure to a professional production environment at a major studio, with the kind of project variety that builds a strong reel. It is a contract role, and candidates should confirm current compensation details and contract length during the application process.
