DNEG is hiring a Pipeline Technical Director (Pipeline ATD Feat Anim) across three global locations. This role sits within DNEG’s Production Technology department, where Pipeline TDs are responsible for the tools, scripts, and workflows that keep VFX and feature animation shows running at a professional level. It suits a technically strong generalist who is equally comfortable writing Python in the morning and troubleshooting a Maya issue with an artist in the afternoon.

About the Role

The Pipeline ATD Feat Anim position operates at the intersection of software development and show support, embedded within the VFX pipeline that serves DNEG’s feature film and animation productions. Day to day, this means maintaining and improving existing pipeline tools, fielding technical requests from artists, and building new workflows in close collaboration with R&D developers and production supervisors. You will also take on a mentoring function within the Pipeline team, supporting junior TDs through tutorials, teaching materials, and hands-on guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support to artists working across VFX and feature animation productions, diagnosing and resolving pipeline issues at the show level.
• Develop new Python tools and scripts tailored to specific show requirements, working alongside R&D developers to align solutions with the wider DNEG pipeline architecture.
• Build and refine integrations within DCC packages including Maya, Houdini, and Nuke to meet production workflow demands.
• Evaluate incoming requests for new tools and connect them to the appropriate stage of company strategy and pipeline development.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the DNEG pipeline, identifying gaps and proposing technically sound solutions in a production context.
• Mentor junior Pipeline TDs through formal materials and day-to-day coaching, with support from Pipeline Supervisors.

What You Bring

• Proven experience working within a VFX pipeline or closely related production technology environment.
• Strong Python skills with practical experience developing tools for DCC applications, particularly Maya.
• Solid working knowledge of Linux in a studio or post-production workflow context.
• A clear understanding of the end-to-end visual effects pipeline at the feature film or animation studio level.
• Experience with source control systems and team-based software development is a plus.
• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
