Job Position(s): FILMMAKERS AND CREW MEMBERS WANTED FOR A COMMERCIAL - PAYS $675.00-$6,675.00 | eBOSS Canada
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Groundglass, a Toronto-based casting company with credits spanning Tim Hortons, Unilever, Johnnie Walker, and Hyundai, is seeking filmmakers and crew members for a commercial production shooting in the Greater Toronto Area. This is an on-camera commercial casting opportunity, not a behind-the-scenes crew position, with selected participants appearing in the spot as themselves, doing the work they already do on film sets. The role suits working film and television professionals ages 18 to 25 who are comfortable on camera and want to translate their production experience into a paid commercial appearance.

About the Role

This commercial production, internally tracked as Project Penne, is a non-union project casting real crew members and filmmakers to appear naturally in a commercial spot. The production workflow runs from a director audition through wardrobe and rehearsal before a two-day shoot at the end of July 2026. Participants are not asked to act, but to present authentically as the film professionals they already are within a commercial production context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend a brief audition with the director on July 21st or 22nd if shortlisted from the initial submission round.
  • Complete a wardrobe appointment on July 27th, which requires approximately two hours of availability.
  • Participate in a full rehearsal on July 28th ahead of principal photography.
  • Be available for up to two days of filming on July 29th and 30th, with full availability required across all dates until officially booked.
  • Submit an audition video as part of the initial application, which Groundglass uses in place of a traditional casting session for early-stage review.
  • Appear on camera as a filmmaker or crew member, representing authentic commercial production culture for a branded campaign.

What You Bring

  • Active experience working on film sets in any crew capacity, including production, camera, grip, lighting, art, or post-production.
  • Ages 18 to 25, based in the Greater Toronto Area, with the ability to film in Toronto across all required dates.
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident status, which is a firm eligibility requirement for this project.
  • Comfort being filmed without prior acting experience, though an outgoing on-camera presence is expected.
  • Non-union status, as this is a non-union commercial project. Talent with agents must submit through Breakdown Services, not directly.

Why This Role

Groundglass has placed real people in national commercial campaigns for major brands, and this project offers working film and television professionals a chance to appear in a produced commercial spot without leaving their professional identity behind. Compensation is structured as $75.00 for the wardrobe appointment, $600.00 per day of filming, and an additional $3,000.00 to $6,000.00 usage fee if your likeness appears in the final commercial, bringing total potential earnings to $675.00 to $6,675.00. Submissions are being accepted immediately, with a deadline described as as soon as possible given the late July shoot schedule.
