Video Editor, CBS Sports (Freelance)

About the Role

This is a 9-month contract position embedded in the CBS Sports social team, supporting accounts across CBS Sports College Football, CBS Sports College Basketball, NFLonCBS, and CBS Sports HQ. The day-to-day involves pulling selects from live and recorded programming, including podcasts, FAST channel content, and network studio shows, then turning them around quickly for social distribution. Nights and weekends are a real part of this schedule, particularly during football and basketball seasons when game-adjacent content needs to move fast.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut vertical, captioned video clips from CBS Sports programming for delivery across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
• Work directly with the social producer to identify and shape moments from studio shows, CBS Sports Network programming, and podcast content.
• Optimize each clip for its specific platform by adjusting pacing, text overlays, and graphic elements to match platform behavior and audience expectations.
• Incorporate supplemental footage, photography, and motion graphics to support storytelling within short-form social video post-production workflow.
• Deliver content under tight turnaround windows tied to live game schedules and real-time sports programming.
• Maintain caption accuracy and apply strong grammar standards across all published video content.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in social video, digital content, or post-production editing, with strong internships considered.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, with the ability to move across multiple media formats without a learning curve.
• A demonstrated eye for pacing, captioning, and formatting specific to vertical, social-first video platforms.
• A portfolio that includes vertical format work with captioning, graphics, and creative layering for Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.
• Availability to work prime time, nights, and weekends during peak sports seasons.
