Job Position(s): Video Editor I
Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

4pconsultinginc is staffing a Video Editor I for Southern Company Services based in Birmingham, Alabama, on a hybrid schedule running four days onsite and one day remote. This is a post-production role focused on editing corporate video content across training, internal communications, and business initiatives, with output optimized for web, social, and mobile delivery. It suits an editor who is comfortable working inside a structured corporate media department and can move between screen-capture tutorials and polished branded video productions.

About the Role

The Video Editor I sits within the Southern Company Services creative team, producing content that serves both employee-facing training programs and broader organizational communications. Day-to-day post-production workflow includes cutting raw footage, building graphics sequences, mixing audio, and delivering finished exports across multiple formats and resolutions. This is a two-year contract position at 40 hours per week, which offers real continuity on a defined slate of internal media projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut raw footage into finished productions for training and corporate communications, maintaining editorial pacing and narrative clarity throughout the post-production process.
  • Build and integrate motion graphics, text treatments, transitions, and visual effects using Adobe After Effects and compatible compositing tools.
  • Record, edit, and mix audio tracks including dialogue, music beds, and sound design elements to broadcast-ready standards.
  • Perform color correction and image enhancement to ensure visual consistency across a project’s full delivery package.
  • Create and export screen-capture training content using Camtasia, which is a required tool for this position.
  • Maintain organized project files and media asset libraries to support version control and efficient handoffs within the creative team.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of one year of professional video editing experience, with a portfolio or work samples required at the time of submission.
  • Proficiency in Camtasia, required, alongside working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Adobe After Effects experience is strongly preferred, particularly for motion graphics and compositing work.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects across corporate video production timelines and deliver on deadline.

Why This Role

Southern Company Services is a major utility holding company with an established internal media operation, which means the work here is steady, well-resourced, and covers a genuine range of video production formats. The two-year contract length gives an early-career editor meaningful time to build credits in corporate media production without the volatility of project-to-project freelance work. Birmingham offers a lower cost of living than most major media markets, and the hybrid structure keeps the role workable alongside other commitments.
