Part Time Videographer & Editor

East Ocean Aquatic Trading Centre is hiring a Part Time Videographer & Editor across its Canberra and Havelock locations. This is a content production role sitting entirely within short-form social media output, covering the full pipeline from on-floor camera work through to finished edits formatted for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook. It suits a self-shooting editor who is comfortable owning both the production and post-production workflow without a crew behind them.

About the Role

The Part Time Videographer & Editor operates as a one-person content unit embedded in a retail aquarium environment, producing short-form video content that covers product arrivals, aquascaping tutorials, and shop floor footage. Working three to four days per week, nine to six, the day moves between active shooting on the retail floor and desk-based post-production editing. Output feeds directly into the company’s social media channels, with editorial decisions shaped by the marketing team’s campaign calendar.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot on-site footage of aquatic livestock, tanks, and retail products using DSLR, mirrorless, or high-end smartphone cameras, managing glass reflections and artificial lighting conditions specific to the aquarium retail environment.
• Edit raw footage into finished short-form video content using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro, applying color correction and grading to accurately render the color of aquatic subjects.
• Format and optimize each deliverable to platform specifications across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, including aspect ratio, caption placement, and audio levels.
• Add text overlays, sound effects, and trending audio in post to hit the pacing and style conventions of current short-form social video production.
• Concept and direct individual shoots, developing ideas for product highlights, educational content, and trend-driven formats without requiring a brief for every deliverable.
• Work with the marketing team to align the content production schedule with upcoming promotions, product launches, and seasonal campaigns.

What You Bring

• A proven portfolio of short-form social video work across TikTok, Reels, or YouTube, submitted as links at the point of application.
• Hands-on proficiency in at least one professional editing platform, specifically CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro.
• Practical experience shooting with both DSLR or mirrorless cameras and smartphones in real production conditions.
• An understanding of social media platform algorithms and how they affect content formatting and publishing strategy.
• The ability to work independently in a retail and warehouse environment, managing your own production schedule across shoot and edit days.
