This role sits on the content production side, responsible for capturing short-form vertical video for TikTok and Instagram Reels that drives awareness for a puzzle-led food experience built around independent restaurants. It suits a self-shooting content creator who understands the grammar of social video and can operate comfortably as both the person behind and occasionally in front of the camera.

About the Role

Food Escapes is a Manchester-based game that sends players puzzle challenges via WhatsApp, directing them to hidden independent restaurants around the city. The Freelance Videographer and Content Strategist works directly in the field, shooting phone-based content at real locations across the city, with footage passed to an in-house editor for post. Day-to-day, this looks like scouting and filming social-first content, directing hooks, and shaping the creative direction of each clip before handoff.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot organic short-form video content on location across Manchester using a phone-based production approach suited to platform-native social media production.
• Develop and execute hooks for TikTok and Reels formats, with an understanding of what stops a scroll in the first two seconds.
• Act as on-screen talent when the content requires it, comfortable presenting to camera in unscripted, naturalistic social content scenarios.
• Brief the in-house editor with clear creative direction, including pacing notes, caption placement, and sound references after each shoot day.
• Bring strong location knowledge of Manchester to inform shoot planning and ensure content feels genuinely embedded in the city.
• Contribute to content strategy decisions, identifying trends in short-form video content creation that align with the Food Escapes brand.

What You Bring

• A portfolio of organic social content shot for your own channel or for other brands, demonstrating real platform performance or creative range.
• Hands-on experience producing TikTok and Instagram Reels content, with a working knowledge of what performs in food, lifestyle, or experience-led verticals.
• Comfort operating as a self-shooter, including framing, lighting assessment, and audio awareness without a full crew around you.
• Availability to work on an ad-hoc day rate freelance basis, with no fixed-term contract attached to this engagement.
• Based in or around Manchester, with genuine familiarity with the city’s neighborhoods, venues, and independent food scene.
