Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Mikros Animation is hiring a Director of Finance to lead the studio finance function out of Montreal, Canada. Reporting to the CFO of Groupe Rodeo FX, this role sits at the center of the studio’s project finance operation, translating production budgets, bid analyses, and margin reporting into decisions that directly shape what gets greenlit and how it gets resourced. This is a role for a senior finance professional who understands how animated feature film and television production actually works, not just how the numbers are supposed to look on paper.

About the Role

The Director of Finance at Mikros Animation leads a dedicated finance team while drawing on shared resources across Groupe Rodeo FX for certain systems and processes. Day to day, this person is embedded in the animation studio’s production and commercial conversations, supporting bid submissions for new projects, monitoring cash flow against active productions, and presenting monthly results to studio leadership. The role carries real weight in a growth context where the studio is actively building its financial visibility to support larger-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary financial partner to the President of Mikros Animation and the Groupe Rodeo FX CFO, providing analysis that informs production and business decisions at the leadership level.
  • Support the bid and proposal process for new animation studio projects, ensuring margin assumptions, budget structures, and associated risks are evaluated with rigor before commitments are made.
  • Oversee all accounting operations for Mikros Animation, maintaining the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting across monthly closes and statutory obligations.
  • Drive the annual budget cycle and rolling forecasts, tracking performance against plan and flagging variances to the production and operations teams in time to act.
  • Manage treasury and liquidity planning, anticipating cash requirements across the production slate and coordinating with Groupe Rodeo FX shared services where applicable.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and process improvement across the finance function to support the studio’s growth trajectory.

What You Bring

  • Ten or more years of progressive finance experience, with a meaningful portion in project-based environments such as animation production, VFX, or film and television.
  • Demonstrated experience in project profitability analysis, including bid support and margin tracking across episodic or feature animation pipelines.
  • CPA designation or equivalent credential, with solid grounding in financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit relationships.
  • Fluency in both French and English, given the international production context and the bilingual leadership environment at Mikros Animation.
  • Proven ability to lead a finance team and operate as a credible business partner with non-finance stakeholders including producers and studio executives.

Why This Role

Mikros Animation has an established international reputation in animated feature film and television production, with credits that span major studio partnerships across North America and Europe. This Director of Finance position offers genuine influence at the studio leadership level, not a reporting function one step removed from where decisions get made. Montreal’s animation sector continues to attract significant production volume, and this role is positioned to grow alongside the studio’s slate.

Apply now for the Director of Finance role at Mikros Animation and bring your financial expertise into one of Montreal’s leading animation studios.
