About the Role

The Cinematographer operates across IGN’s core content, branded, and event departments, working on productions that range from four-person studio shoots to 30-plus crew events in locations around the globe. Day-to-day work involves setting camera looks, managing lighting systems, and coordinating camera inventory across concurrent broadcast and studio production workflows. This is a full-time, in-office position on a Monday through Friday schedule, with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead camera and lighting decisions for studio productions, off-site events, and field shoots, including camera placement, movement, and lighting design.
• Dial in camera settings for each production, including shutter angle and aperture, and manage color profiles such as S-Log, RAW, and Rec 709 across the camera package.
• Define and oversee lighting requirements for each shoot, working alongside an external Lighting Director when needed to add, reconfigure, or operate studio and location lighting rigs.
• Maintain the camera inventory and all support systems, ensuring gear is in working order and any necessary maintenance is completed before and after each production.
• Assist Production and Project Managers with studio production scheduling and sourcing, including identifying camera operators and Directors of Photography for fill-in coverage.
• Oversee safe operation of field and studio cameras, support systems, and grip equipment during setup, operation, and wrap on all assigned productions.

What You Bring

• Three or more years of camera and lighting experience across studio and field production environments.
• Hands-on experience with professional camera systems including the Sony FX6, Blackmagic, and Blackmagic URSA, along with a solid working knowledge of cinema and broadcast lenses.
• Ability to build LUTs and color correct footage in DaVinci Resolve, with working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop.
• Experience in lighting design and rigging, with a comprehensive understanding of lighting types and techniques used across broadcast and studio production.
• Familiarity with professional lighting control systems such as ETC EOS is a plus, as is jib operation experience on 9-foot-plus rigs.
• Comfort working in high-output event production settings with limited setup time and shifting priorities across simultaneous projects.
