Sportsman’s Guide is hiring a freelance Video Editor and Production Lead based in Minneapolis, Minnesota to anchor a new creator-driven content initiative launching across YouTube and social platforms. This role sits at the intersection of post-production workflow and content strategy, responsible for shaping raw creator footage into a polished, episodic format with consistent visual identity and social-ready packaging. It is well suited to an editor with experience in lifestyle or outdoor content who has moved beyond clip assembly into building repeatable series formats from the ground up.

About the Role

The Video Editor and Production Lead will work directly within Sportsman’s Guide’s content and creative team on a military surplus series called “Repurpose This Surplus,” a contributor-driven format designed to demonstrate real-world utility across product categories including everyday carry, camping, and range gear. Day-to-day work spans offline editing of creator-supplied footage, development of intro and outro approaches, creation of social cutdowns, and collaboration on creator briefs before cameras roll. This is a freelance engagement structured as an initial project with a stated path toward a longer-term or full-time role as the content operation scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit contributor footage into episodic YouTube content with strong pacing, hook structure, and platform-native packaging.
• Build reusable editing templates and post-production systems that support a scalable, repeatable series format.
• Develop social cutdowns and format variations optimized for short-form distribution alongside long-form YouTube delivery.
• Collaborate with creators in pre-production by defining shot lists, capture guidance, and brief requirements before footage is filmed.
• Shape the visual identity and pacing language of the series so episodes feel consistent across different contributors and subject matter.
• Advise the content strategy team on missing coverage, shot requirements, and editorial approaches that strengthen the format over time.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated credits editing YouTube series or social-first content with measurable performance in lifestyle, outdoor, EDC, or adventure categories.
• Proficiency in a professional non-linear editing system alongside motion graphics tools used in branded content post-production workflow.
• Experience working within influencer or creator content pipelines, including translating raw field footage into polished branded assets.
• A background in developing episodic or repeatable content formats, not just one-off edits, is strongly preferred.
