ESPN is hiring a Senior Vice President, Sports Studio & Entertainment based in Bristol, CT, to lead the full editorial and operational scope of the network’s studio programming, podcast, audio, and digital production arms. This is the executive seat responsible for shaping what gets made, how it gets made, and what it looks like across every platform ESPN distributes content on, from linear broadcast to streaming and social. The role suits a senior media executive with a proven track record running large creative organizations inside major sports, broadcast, or multiplatform entertainment environments.
About the Role
The SVP Sports Studio & Entertainment sits at the center of ESPN’s content operation, overseeing studio show production, digital content output, and the full audio and podcast portfolio as part of The Walt Disney Company’s sports media division. Day to day, this executive is driving editorial strategy, managing on-air talent development, aligning production workflows across business units, and working directly with programming, technology, and distribution partners to keep the content pipeline running at scale. Think of it as running a full multiplatform production studio where the output spans live studio television, episodic sports storytelling, and on-demand audio content simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the long-term content strategy for ESPN’s studio shows, digital production, podcasts, and audio platforms, ensuring editorial direction holds across all formats.
- Oversee production execution and creative direction for the studio and entertainment portfolio, maintaining broadcast-quality storytelling standards across linear and streaming output.
- Direct on-air talent strategy across studio, digital, and audio platforms, partnering with the Talent Office and Production leadership to identify and develop emerging personalities.
- Lead complex production operations including budgeting, workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across multiple platforms and business units.
- Drive the integration of audience analytics, AI tools, and emerging production technologies into content creation workflows and programming decisions.
- Partner with news, investigative, and live event teams to strengthen editorial collaboration and uphold journalistic standards across the full sports media production slate.
What You Bring
- Executive-level leadership experience running large-scale studio production or multiplatform content organizations within broadcast, cable, or streaming television.
- Deep familiarity with episodic television production, live studio programming, and digital content workflows at a major media company.
- Demonstrated experience managing on-air talent and working within talent relations structures at a network or major sports media brand.
- Track record of operational oversight including P&L responsibility, staffing, and production budget management across multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience building and leading high-performing creative teams in a matrixed organization.
Why This Role
ESPN remains the dominant name in sports media production, and this position carries genuine authority over how the network tells stories across every platform it operates. Bristol is home to one of the most technically equipped sports broadcast production facilities in the industry, and this role gives an executive real influence over its editorial future. For someone ready to shape multiplatform content strategy at the highest level of sports television, there are very few comparable seats available anywhere in the industry.
Apply now for the Senior Vice President, Sports Studio & Entertainment position at ESPN and bring your production leadership to one of the most recognized names in sports broadcasting.
