Job Position(s): Senior Off‑Platform Editor
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Senior Off-Platform Editor to join CNN’s Audience Team in London at 160 Old Street. This role sits within CNN’s digital editorial operation, where the Senior Off-Platform Editor leads social distribution strategy and content output across Facebook, WhatsApp, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube Community, Bluesky, and several other channels. It is a strong fit for an experienced social journalist or digital editor who has owned breaking news coverage at scale and understands how platform algorithms shape audience behavior.

About the Role

The Audience Team functions as the connective tissue between CNN’s newsroom output and its off-platform social presence, translating broadcast and digital editorial into platform-native storytelling. The Senior Off-Platform Editor acts as the senior editorial decision-maker when the Director is off-shift, which means real authority over live news coverage and team direction on a day-to-day basis. A typical shift moves between monitoring the news agenda, editing and publishing social content, reviewing team output, and pulling performance data to inform what gets pushed next.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead editorial planning and reactive coverage across CNN’s major social channels, including breaking news moments and high-profile live events.
  • Directly manage a small team of editors, assigning work, editing output, and driving consistent editorial standards across off-platform distribution.
  • Pilot new content formats suited to specific platform infrastructure, including short-form video, community posts, and emerging social features.
  • Analyze platform performance metrics and audience data to sharpen content decisions and surface emerging trends before they peak.
  • Act as an internal consultant to CNN’s broader editorial teams on how to package and frame stories for social-first distribution.
  • Produce and edit social-first visuals and video assets using tools including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Figma.

What You Bring

  • Proven background in social media editing or audience development at a major broadcast or digital news organization.
  • Direct management experience, including editing team output and developing junior staff in a newsroom environment.
  • Hands-on fluency with analytics platforms and the ability to translate performance data into concrete editorial strategy.
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Premiere Pro for producing social-first multimedia content.
  • Demonstrated track record covering breaking news and major live events across multiple social platforms simultaneously.

Why This Role

Warner Bros. Discovery operates one of the most recognized news brands in global broadcast and digital media, and this position sits at the center of how CNN reaches audiences outside its owned platforms. The Senior Off-Platform Editor role carries genuine editorial authority, including senior decision-making responsibility across a major international newsroom’s social output. Weekend shifts are part of the schedule, and flexibility for breaking news coverage is required.
