This role sits within the local broadcast production department, producing original show content in partnership with the Chicago Bears across line producing and segment production. About the Role

The Sports Producer will work directly with FOX 32’s sports team and the Chicago Bears on co-produced shows, handling both studio and field production responsibilities. A typical day spans script writing, coordinating pre-production logistics, and field producing on-location shoots and interviews. This is freelance work inside a local television news and sports operation that collectively produces around 1,200 hours of broadcast content per week across its station group.

Key Responsibilities

• Line produce Chicago Bears co-branded shows from pre-production through to broadcast-ready delivery.
• Write scripts and segment copy that meet the editorial standards of live sports broadcasting.
• Field produce on-location shoots, coordinating crew, talent, and interview logistics at Bears facilities and game-day environments.
• Order and manage pre-production materials, ensuring resources are in place ahead of shoot days.
• Research and develop segment ideas that serve both the FOX 32 editorial calendar and the Bears partnership.
• Support the Sports Executive Producer on project-level tasks across the production slate.

What You Bring

• Three to five years of hands-on television production experience, ideally within sports broadcasting or local broadcast news.
• Proficiency in iNEWS for rundown and script management in a live broadcast environment.
• Demonstrated experience editing in Adobe Premiere, with the ability to cut segments independently when required.
• Proven field producing credits, including on-location interview production and shoot coordination.
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• Detail-oriented working habits and reliable availability consistent with freelance episodic television production demands.
