Warner Bros. Discovery
Category
Job Type
Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a Sr Accountant Studios based in Mexico City at Paseo de las Palmas, supporting one of the largest international television distribution operations in the industry. This role sits inside the Studio Controllership Group and handles the financial reporting, monthly closes, and audit support for a content library spanning over 61,000 hours of programming licensed across more than 175 countries. It suits an accounting professional who understands how revenue flows through international television distribution deals, from broadcast and pay cable to subscription video-on-demand platforms.
About the Role
The Studio Controllership Group functions as a shared services accounting team within Warner Bros. Discovery, meaning this Sr Accountant Studios position touches multiple business units and territories simultaneously. Day-to-day work involves reconciling accounts tied to episodic television and feature film licensing, producing by-title financial reporting, and acting as the primary contact between the business unit and corporate departments including tax, treasury, and legal. The role also involves managing deliverables from an external Business Process Outsourcing provider, which requires both technical accounting precision and clear communication across organizational layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial deliverables including Balance Sheet, P&L, footnotes, and disclosures tied to international television distribution revenue.
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison between the Studio Controllership Group and corporate departments such as FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal on inquiries related to international licensing activity.
- Own account reconciliations and lead standardization initiatives across the finance organization to improve reporting consistency for global content distribution.
- Support Participations audits and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requests, including statutory audits across international territories.
- Review and manage Business Process Outsourcing provider deliverables, ensuring period transactions are processed accurately and outstanding issues are resolved on schedule.
- Identify and recommend process improvements within the international television distribution accounting workflow to increase efficiency and reduce reporting cycle time.
What You Bring
- Three or more years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within a studio, distributor, or media company that handles multi-territory content licensing.
- Proven ability to manage by-title financial reporting across a large content catalog covering feature film and episodic television formats.
- Familiarity with Participations accounting and the audit processes that accompany international content distribution agreements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple reporting cycles across different corporate departments at the same time.
- Effective written and verbal communication in both English and Spanish, given the Mexico City location and the cross-border nature of this role.
Why This Role
Warner Bros. Discovery distributes a content library that includes over 6,500 features and 3,000 television programs, dubbed or subtitled in more than 40 languages, which means the accounting work here has genuine scale and complexity that most studio finance roles do not offer at this level. The Studio Controllership Group is positioned as a shared services function, giving the Sr Accountant Studios direct visibility into how a major global media company manages international television distribution finance across dozens of markets. For an accountant looking to build credits in studio finance, this is a role with clear career trajectory inside one of the largest content companies in the world.
