Job Position(s): VP, Production
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Warner Bros. Discovery is hiring a VP, Production to join their television team in Burbank, CA. This role sits at the center of alternative series production, carrying full responsibility for budget oversight, crew management, and day-to-day production operations from prep through wrap. It’s a fit for a senior production executive who has spent years managing complex episodic television workflows and knows how to keep a show running on time and on budget without losing the trust of the creative team.

About the Role

The VP, Production works across Warner Bros. Discovery’s alternative series slate, serving as the primary production executive on assigned projects and acting as the connective tissue between physical production, labor relations, and internal studio departments. A typical day involves reviewing deal memos and call sheets, tracking crew labor and vendor costs, resolving logistical problems before they become production delays, and keeping production models aligned with approved budgets. This person is expected to be a consistent presence on set, not just in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development and ongoing adherence to budgets and production models across assigned alternative series productions.
  • Reviews and approves all call sheets, production reports, deal memos, work authorizations, and rental authorizations for each project.
  • Tracks crew labor and vendor costs throughout the episodic television production cycle, flagging variances before they compound.
  • Participates in location scouts and production planning, and devises detailed production schedules that hold up under real shoot conditions.
  • Acts as the primary liaison to the WBTV Labor Relations department, managing issues proactively before they affect the production floor.
  • Approves all staff and crew hires across each assigned production, coordinating vendor selection and equipment in parallel.

What You Bring

  • Seven or more years of television production experience, covering both scripted and non-scripted formats, with film or video production also considered.
  • A working knowledge of accounting principles sufficient to review cost reports and verify accurate distribution of production expenses.
  • Direct experience supervising crew across all departments in a physical production environment.
  • The ability to prepare and present clear production schedules to executives and creative talent.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in film or television production.

Why This Role

Warner Bros. Discovery operates one of the largest television production pipelines in the industry, giving a VP, Production consistent access to high-volume, high-profile alternative series work rather than project-to-project instability. The role carries real decision-making authority over hiring, budgets, and production planning, which is not always the case at this title level elsewhere in the industry.
