Project Type: Documentary
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA is hiring a Videographer to join its Office of Communications and Marketing. This role sits within a content team responsible for producing short-form and long-form video that serves admissions, advancement, alumni relations, and the college’s broader brand story across digital and social platforms. It’s a good fit for a video producer who is comfortable owning the full production workflow, from story development through final edit, and who wants to build something rather than just execute assignments.

About the Role

The Videographer reports to the director of strategic content and works alongside the social media manager, athletics communications staff, and campus partners across academic and student life. Day-to-day production covers everything from on-campus event coverage at orientation and commencement to interview-driven profiles of students, faculty, and alumni. The role also involves building and managing a small team of student videographers to support content volume and authentic storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, shoot, and edit short-form and long-form video content that supports admissions recruitment, alumni engagement, and institutional marketing campaigns.
  • Develop original story concepts tied to Muhlenberg College’s strategic priorities, identifying subjects across faculty, student, and alumni communities.
  • Manage field production independently, including camera operation, lighting setup, and audio capture for interview and event formats.
  • Coordinate with contracted production firms on larger-scale video initiatives that require additional crew or specialized equipment.
  • Build and supervise a student videographer program to expand content output and support authentic campus storytelling.
  • Deliver finished video assets optimized for web and social media distribution, working within the department’s broader content production workflow.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience producing and editing video in a marketing, institutional, or documentary production context.
  • Proficiency in professional video editing software and familiarity with camera, lighting, and field audio equipment used in single-operator production.
  • A portfolio that shows story development skills, not just technical execution.
  • Comfort managing a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional travel for production.
  • Experience mentoring or directing non-professional on-camera talent, including students or interview subjects.

Why This Role

Muhlenberg College offers a benefits package that includes 22 vacation days per year, eight weeks of paid parental leave, tuition benefits, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. The college qualifies as a Public Service Loan Forgiveness employer under federal guidelines. For a videographer looking to run a full content operation with real creative ownership, this is a staff role with institutional backing and room to build.

Apply now for the Videographer position at Muhlenberg College and bring your production experience to a content team with meaningful work on the slate.
