Job Type
Paramount is hiring a freelance Graphics Production Assistant for CBS Sports in New York. This role sits inside the graphics department, supporting live studio broadcasts and digital properties by building and maintaining the imagery that appears on screen during sports news coverage. It’s a strong fit for someone with a broadcast or graphic design background who knows their way around a control room and can keep pace with a newsroom that doesn’t slow down on weekends.
About the Role
You’ll be embedded in the CBS Sports graphics department, supporting studio production across CBS Sports Digital and its live broadcast properties, which include NFL coverage, college football, UEFA Champions League, and the NCAA Tournament. A typical shift involves prepping assets before air, operating graphics playout systems during the show, and turning around custom imagery tied to whatever is breaking in the sports news cycle. Weekend availability is a real requirement here, not a footnote.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut and prep team logos, sponsor graphics, player headshots, and action shots for integration into the graphics database using Adobe Photoshop and the broader Creative Suite.
- Operate the Ross XPression playout system during live studio broadcasts, with training provided for those new to the platform.
- Work within the browser-based rundown system Inception to manage graphics across the live show workflow.
- Build custom on-set imagery in response to current sports headlines, turning around assets quickly to meet broadcast deadlines.
- Support the graphics team across CBS Sports Digital platforms, including CBS Sports HQ, CBSSports.com, and connected TV applications.
- Maintain consistency and accuracy across all on-air graphics during live sports production, where errors are visible immediately.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, new media, or broadcast production.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, with working knowledge of Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator.
- At least one year of professional experience in a control room, newsroom, or broadcast studio environment.
- Genuine knowledge of sports, particularly the leagues and events that make up the CBS Sports broadcast calendar.
- The ability to manage multiple asset requests simultaneously during a live production without missing air.
Why This Role
CBS Sports covers a broadcast slate that includes the NFL, The Masters, the NCAA Tournament, and UEFA Champions League, which means the graphics work here has real scale and visibility. Paramount offers comprehensive benefits and paid time off for eligible roles, and this position puts you inside one of the more active live sports production operations in broadcast television. For someone building a career in broadcast graphics or live sports production, the range of properties and volume of live air time here is genuinely hard to match.
Apply now for the Graphics Production Assistant role at Paramount and bring your broadcast graphics skills to one of television’s most recognized sports brands.
