Job Type
DreamWorks Animation is hiring a TV Development and Current Series Intern at their Glendale, California studio for Fall 2026. This role sits inside the television animation development and current series pipeline, where the intern works directly alongside high-level executives to move projects from pitch to production. It suits a student or recent graduate who wants real exposure to how animated series get developed and shepherded through the episodic television process.
About the Role
This internship is embedded within the TV Development and Current Series department at DreamWorks Animation, one of the leading animation studios producing original content for global audiences. The intern works across both development and production sides, which means touching early-stage pitches and also engaging with episodes already in progress. A typical day might involve reading a script in the morning, attending a work-in-progress screening in the afternoon, and spending time building a deck for an upcoming department presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow executives on both the development and current series sides of the television animation pipeline, contributing a creative point of view on content.
- Read scripts and review designs as part of the ongoing evaluation process for projects in development and production.
- Research books, writers, and artists to identify potential source material and talent for the development slate.
- Build pitch decks and source assets from production teams to support department presentations.
- Submit writer pitches and project submissions into the department’s internal databases.
- Create and present a final project built around an approved theme to studio executives at the end of the program.
What You Bring
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree, within six months of graduation.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop for use in deck and asset preparation.
- Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in a professional creative environment.
- Ability to transcribe recorded meetings accurately and conduct internet market research independently.
- Interest in programming across all audience demographics, from preschool to adult animation.
- Must be 18 or older, authorized to work in the US, and able to report in person Tuesday through Thursday in Glendale, California.
Why This Role
DreamWorks Animation has a long track record in both feature film production and episodic television, giving interns visibility into a full-service animation studio rather than a single-format shop. The program runs September 28 through December 3, 2026, at 24 hours per week, with applications closing June 29, 2026. Compensation is up to $17.87 per hour, and the program includes executive speaker series, professional development workshops, and film screenings alongside the day-to-day work.
