Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

DreamWorks Animation is hiring a Training Intern for Fall 2026, based at their Los Angeles studio. This role sits inside the Training Department, supporting the delivery and documentation of classes that serve TV, Feature, and Overhead production departments including Animation, Effects, Surfacing, and Matte Painting. It’s a strong fit for a student or recent grad with a background in media production or digital arts who wants to see how a major animation studio pipeline actually runs from the inside.

About the Role

The Training Department at DreamWorks functions as the internal education arm of the studio, keeping artists and crew current on the software and workflows used across animated film and series production. As a Training Intern, you’ll be embedded in that operation from September 28 through December 3, 2026, working 24 hours per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Thursdays in person. Your day-to-day will move between class supervision, attendance tracking, video editing of recorded sessions, and light design work to support the department’s communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise virtual, hybrid, and onsite training classes and manage attendance records through Excel database entry and maintenance.
  • Record training sessions using screen capture software and edit the resulting footage in Adobe Premiere for internal distribution.
  • Design promotional materials in Photoshop to support upcoming training class announcements across the studio.
  • Handle administrative tasks for the Training Department, keeping the workflow organized across multiple concurrent production tracks.
  • Attend training sessions covering the animation pipeline and production software to build direct knowledge of studio operations.
  • Connect with artists across departments including effects, surfacing, and matte painting to develop familiarity with individual production disciplines.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience collecting and organizing data in Excel, including spreadsheet maintenance and database work.
  • Video editing experience using Adobe Premiere, with the ability to cut and deliver clean recordings of instructional content.
  • Basic design skills in Photoshop sufficient for producing internal promotional materials.
  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree program, with graduation no more than six months prior.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of program start.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks across different production departments simultaneously.

Why This Role

DreamWorks Animation produces both animated feature films and series, and this internship puts you inside the infrastructure that keeps those productions staffed and skilled. The program includes executive speaker series, career development workshops, artistic classes, and film screenings, giving interns real exposure beyond their immediate department. Compensation is up to USD 17.87 per hour, and applications close June 29, 2026 at 11:59pm PT.
