Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable data and infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with BigQuery, GKE, AlloyDB, and Airflow (Cloud Composer) and a proven track record of leading engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-based data platforms on GCP
Drive development and optimization of data pipelines using Airflow / Cloud Composer
Design and manage large-scale data solutions using BigQuery
Oversee deployment and orchestration of containerized applications using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine)
Manage and optimize database solutions using AlloyDB
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, DevOps, and product teams
Ensure high performance, scalability, security, and reliability of systems
Mentor and guide team members, enforce best practices, and conduct code reviews
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely solutions
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Hands-on expertise in:
BigQuery (data warehousing, optimization)
GKE (Kubernetes, container orchestration)
AlloyDB (PostgreSQL-based cloud database)
Airflow / Cloud Composer (workflow orchestration)
Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages
Strong understanding of data engineering, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed systems
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with microservices architecture
Knowledge of Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Prior experience leading cloud transformation or migration projects
Certification in GCP (Professional Cloud Architect / Data Engineer)

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $70.00-$80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON
