Technical Director

Paramount is hiring a Technical Director for its CBS Sports Digital operation in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role sits inside the broadcast operations and programming department, where the TD runs the technical execution of live digital sports newscasts across CBS Sports HQ and CBSSN, including switching, audio, cameras, and guest integration. It suits an operator with real newscast experience who knows how to keep a live broadcast clean when breaking news hits mid-show.

CBS Sports Digital runs a portfolio that includes CBSSports.com, 247Sports, MaxPreps, and SportsLine, reaching more than 70 million sports fans monthly across desktop, mobile, and connected TV. The Technical Director works directly with producers on newscast pre-production and owns the control room during live broadcasts that range from 15-minute hits to full-hour shows. Shifts include weekends, overnights, and holidays, with the expectation of staying on when breaking news or postgame coverage demands it.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up the studio before each broadcast, including lighting placement and camera framing for the specific show format.
• Check in all remote guests and analysts via LiveU, Zoom, and similar platforms, completing full audio verification before air.
• Switch live broadcasts and operate audio consoles and robotic camera systems across CBS Sports HQ and CBSSN productions.
• Coordinate with Paramount Global entities to establish clean connections for on-air contributors throughout each shift.
• Respond to breaking news and live postgame coverage at any point during a shift, adapting the broadcast workflow in real time.
• Collaborate with CBS Sports Broadcast to produce content that serves CBS Sports Digital platforms and their connected TV audience.

What You Bring

• At least 2 years of hands-on technical direction experience in live television newscast production.
• Working knowledge of video switchers, graphics systems, server playout systems, audio consoles, and robotic camera systems.
• Experience with Ross products including switchers, Inception, and Xpression is a strong plus.
• Ability to work all shifts on short notice, including holidays and overnights, under live broadcast deadline pressure.
• A bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications or equivalent production experience is preferred.
