Harmonic is proud to be working on retained business with a leading global TV & Film Production Business who are now looking for a (Group) Strategic Finance Director to help guide the business through a period of growth.
The Business
Our client is a world-leading name in production, supporting on multiple household name projects with massive clients in the industry. Having won BAFTA’s, Grammy’s and other major awards in the entertainment industry, they’ve grown from a small kitchen-table enterprise to a multi-site SME within their 10 years of operation. Specialising in short-form content such as music videos and adverts with the plan to integrate long-form content into their portfolio, they have a clear track record of providing A+ services to the impressive clients they work with.
The company flexible with their base, having a finance and executive presence in their North West, Scotland, and London offices. With a headcount of 50 and counting in their several offices scattered around the UK and Europe, they’re on an impressive growth trajectory as they take on new streams of revenue.
The Role
This Strategic Finance Director will report into and work closely with the group’s talented Managing Director and have a seat on the Board, making this role incredibly influential in driving strategy and shaping vision for future growth.
As the Strategic FD, you’ll be overseeing their small in-house finance team and ensuring that all controls and systems are in place and poised to carry the business into this new period of growth. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining financial process and controls, as well as supporting with the due diligence and risk assessments as the Board contemplates potential acquisitions and expansion into new markets. This role is heavily responsible for supporting with meeting investors and working to grow the business’ global presence for growth. A strong knowledge of international tax systems is highly favoured.
In this role, you will support the business in an all-around way, providing strategic, commercial, and controllership support as they continue to grow internationally and domestically, taking on new revenue streams and seeking out new investments and partnerships. The business is currently based in the UK but are growing their entities internationally. They have a small in-house finance team that this Group FD would be responsible for managing and growing.
As part of the role you will be responsible for:
- Management of the group commercial finance function
- Business partnering with the MD and presenting to the Board on strategic and commercial trends
- Oversee cashflow, budget, and treasury management for subsidiaries within the business
- Compile documentation and support with financial modelling for future fundraising and investment opportunities
- Perform due diligence and risk assessments for potential acquisitions
- Network and identify potential sources for investment and growth
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls
- Complete group-wide internal audit
- Ad hoc projects and tasks
What you need (essential):
- Experience working within the Creative Industries (Music, Live Entertainment, TV, Film, Media) – Ideally with content production
- Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA
- Strong knowledge regarding international tax and regulation
What we’d like to see (bonus):
- Experience in a scaling SME with an international presence
Salary: £100,000 – £110,000 plus bonus
