Job Position(s): Social Video Editor
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Misfits Market is hiring a Social Video Editor based in New York, New York. This role sits within the brand and creative department, producing short-form video content across organic social, paid social, and onsite channels for platforms including Meta, TikTok, and YouTube. It suits an editor-producer hybrid who is comfortable owning the full short-form production workflow, from self-shooting on location to delivering performance ad variants against growth marketing briefs.

About the Role

The Social Video Editor reports to the Creative Director and works at the intersection of brand storytelling and direct-response video production, collaborating closely with the Growth marketing team to drive customer acquisition. A typical week involves shooting and editing original content, cutting new hooks and call-to-action variants based on performance data, and maintaining a scalable asset library that includes b-roll, UGC footage, and brand-sourced material. This is a single-person production unit role, not a support position, so the ability to move from brief to finished cut within the same week is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and produce short-form video content for organic social, paid social campaigns, and onsite placement, adapting format and pacing to each platform’s native viewing behavior.
  • Collaborate with the Growth marketing team to execute video ad concepts designed to improve cost per acquisition and return on ad spend, iterating on hooks, cutdowns, and CTA variants based on live performance learnings.
  • Self-shoot on location, at home, or outdoors using whatever production setup best serves the concept, with occasional travel as needed.
  • Monitor short-form video trends, competitor creative, and platform-level format changes across TikTok, Meta, and YouTube to inform the brand’s content strategy.
  • Maintain a structured content library of video assets to support creative remixing and production scalability across the team.
  • Act as an internal advocate for storytelling that connects the brand’s food waste reduction mission to consumer behavior, working within the established visual style set by the Brand team.

What You Bring

  • 2 to 3 years of short-form video production experience for a brand, ideally with credits that include performance ad content driving purchases, subscriptions, or sign-ups.
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot on mobile or camera and deliver a polished cut within a compressed production timeline.
  • Working knowledge of consumer purchase behavior and how brand marketing principles translate into video content built around the customer.
  • Genuine interest in food, groceries, sustainability, and the supply chain stories behind them, which directly informs the content this role produces.

Why This Role

Misfits Market operates a grocery delivery model reaching nearly every zip code across 48 states and has built a content-ready brand story around reducing food waste at scale, giving this Social Video Editor a subject matter well suited to short-form storytelling with real stakes. The role carries meaningful creative ownership, with direct input into both brand content and performance ad strategy rather than execution alone.

Apply now for the Social Video Editor role at Misfits Market and bring your short-form production work to a brand with a clear point of view.
