About the Role

The role is freelance and requires availability across shifts, including weekends and unscheduled breaking news coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare presenters and guests for broadcast television appearances, delivering makeup and hair that reads accurately under studio lighting on HD and 4K camera systems.
• Maintain visual continuity across repeat appearances by keeping detailed records, continuity notes, and photographic references for each talent.
• Apply color-corrected makeup techniques suited to varying studio lighting setups, working in coordination with the lighting and production design teams.
• Fit, style, and maintain wigs and hairpieces as required across live and recorded broadcast productions.
• Perform basic prosthetic makeup application and upkeep when production needs call for it.
• Manage the makeup kit inventory, including sourcing materials, maintaining hygiene standards, and keeping supplies stocked and ready for live broadcast calls.

What You Bring

• A minimum of five years of professional experience in broadcast television, studio production, or media environments.
• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in makeup artistry, hair styling for film and TV, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience working live or studio-based television productions, with a portfolio showing range across news, studio, and on-location work.
• Strong technical knowledge of on-camera makeup application for HD and 4K broadcast formats under varied lighting conditions.
• Proven ability to work quickly and accurately under the pressures of live television production and breaking news coverage.
