Job Position(s): Senior Compositing Artist - TMNT 2
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Rodeo FX is hiring a Senior Compositing Artist in Montreal to work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. This is a 2D/3D compositing role embedded in the VFX pipeline, responsible for taking complex shots from raw elements through to final picture. It suits an experienced compositor who can operate independently on high-complexity work and still function as a technical and artistic anchor for the people around them.

About the Role

You’ll be working within the compositing department on a major animated feature film production, handling sequences that require both strong technical command and a reliable eye for final image quality. Day to day, that means owning shots through the full comp process, flagging issues before they become problems, and contributing to the broader consistency of the show. Rodeo FX operates at a level where senior artists are expected to shape the work, not just execute it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of complex shots and sequences, delivering finished composites that meet both the creative brief and technical specifications of the production.
  • Build visually compelling compositions that integrate 2D and 3D elements across a feature film VFX pipeline with consistency and control.
  • Identify and resolve technical and creative problems before they surface in review, without waiting for direction from a supervisor.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of departmental tools, templates, and post-production workflows.
  • Participate actively in internal reviews, offering constructive and specific feedback that raises the quality of the work across the board.
  • Guide junior and mid-level compositors through shot work and help onboard new artists into the studio pipeline and culture.

What You Bring

  • Several years of compositing experience on feature film or high-end VFX productions, with credits that reflect work at a senior level.
  • Deep proficiency in Nuke, including node-based compositing workflows and integration of CG renders with live-action or animated plates.
  • A track record of handling shots independently within a structured VFX pipeline, from initial builds through client-ready finals.
  • Strong communication skills when working across departments, including with leads, supervisors, and CG teams.
  • Experience mentoring other artists in a production environment, whether formally or informally.

Why This Role

Rodeo FX has built a reputation across both animated feature and live-action VFX work, and TMNT 2 is a high-profile production that will carry weight on a compositor’s reel. The studio is based in Montreal, a well-established hub for animation and visual effects work, with a team structure that gives senior artists real influence over how the work gets done.

If you’re a Senior Compositing Artist ready to take on complex work at a studio that expects real contribution from its senior staff, apply to Rodeo FX today.
