Job Position(s): Production Accountant
Project Type: Animation
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Atomic Cartoons is hiring a Production Accountant to join their Vancouver studio on a full-time, permanent basis. This role sits within the accounting department and is responsible for the financial processing that keeps animation productions moving, with a core focus on accounts payable, government remittances, and bank reconciliations. It suits an accountant who is comfortable working independently, stays precise under deadline pressure, and wants to plant roots in an animation studio rather than cycle through short-term contracts.

About the Role

The Production Accountant works inside the accounting team at Atomic Cartoons, supporting the financial infrastructure behind a slate that includes original series and major licensed productions for brands like LEGO, Star Wars, and CoComelon. Day-to-day work is grounded in the transactional and compliance side of studio accounting, handling AP cycles, monthly bank recs, and the government remittances that come with running a multi-project animation studio. This is a staff role, not a show-term contract, so the work spans across productions rather than wrapping with any single title.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable across active animation productions, ensuring accurate coding and timely vendor payment cycles.
  • Prepare Workers Compensation and BC Employer Health Tax remittances in compliance with provincial requirements.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations across studio accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies before month-end close.
  • Prepare GST and HST remittances, maintaining accuracy across intercompany and production-related transactions.
  • Prepare intercompany billback invoices between Atomic Cartoons and related entities within the Blue Ant Studios group.
  • Assist with month-end working papers and provide general support to the broader accounting team during close periods.

What You Bring

  • Experience in an accounting role within a film, television, or animation studio environment is a clear asset.
  • Solid working knowledge of accounts payable processes and government remittance obligations in British Columbia.
  • Familiarity with intercompany accounting structures, particularly within a multi-entity production company.
  • Attention to detail in bank reconciliation work, with the ability to manage competing deadlines across production cycles.
  • Strong organizational habits and the ability to work without heavy supervision once processes are established.

Why This Role

Atomic Cartoons holds a genuine reputation in the animation industry, with credits spanning preschool, action-adventure, and adult genres, and a B Corp certification that reflects how the studio operates internally. The permanent, full-time structure of this Production Accountant position means real job stability inside a Vancouver animation studio with an active and varied production slate. For an accountant looking to build a long-term career in animation production, this is a grounded opportunity at a studio with consistent output and an established accounting team to work within.
