PRODUCER – GLOBAL NEWS TORONTO

Global News Toronto is hiring a full-time Producer to join the Corus Entertainment newsroom at their Don Mills location in Toronto. This role sits within the Multi-Market Content and OTT division, where the Producer shapes daily live news programming and original content across multiple broadcast platforms. About the Role

The Producer reports to the Executive Producer of Multi-Market Content and OTT and works directly on Global News Toronto’s marquee local news programs. Day to day, this means running editorial decisions on lineups, producing interview segments, and taking live programs to air in a control room setting. The role spans both planned coverage and breaking news, requiring strong command of broadcast production workflow from story development through to transmission.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine the look, style, and format of news programs and individual stories in line with established editorial standards for live television broadcasting.
• Write and vet scripts, teases, and headlines while working with reporters to shape story structure and visual elements.
• Produce interview segments end to end, covering setup, editorial focus, question preparation, and supporting visual production elements.
• Plan and produce special events and breaking news coverage, coordinating production resources across affiliates and Global News departments.
• Manage lineup systems and editing programs to maintain Global News editorial standards throughout the broadcast production workflow.
• Take live news programs to air from a control room environment, making clear and decisive calls under deadline pressure.

What You Bring

• A university degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in television broadcasting, with preference given to candidates from major market newsrooms.
• Demonstrated proficiency with lineup management systems and broadcast editing programs used in episodic news production.
• Strong news writing ability and editorial judgment developed across multiple story formats and platform types.
• This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement at Corus Entertainment.
