Producer/Director & 1st AD “The Unit”

A young woman wakes up in a psychiatric hospital with no memory of how she got there. She comes to discover she’s not the only one, and that the head psychiatrist is using his patients for nefarious purposes.

Synopsis: THE UNIT follows BROOKE, a 20-year-old with a rough background who awakens in a psychiatric hospital with no memory of how she got there. Distrustful of all authority, she tries to escape, but is stopped at every opportunity. Confined against her will, she is surrounded by other patients, each harboring dark secrets and battling personal demons. As Brooke gets used to her stay, she notices odd things all around her; none of the patients have family and some mysteriously disappear at night only to return the next day. Brooke builds a bond with another patient, HAYDEN (19), a shy momma’s boy who trusts the hospital staff, and convinces him that the Unit is dangerous.

Brooke discovers the Unit’s secret – It is not a psychiatric unit at all but rather a warehouse in the middle of nowhere where DR. BLOOM (late-30’s), the lead psychiatrist, subjects his patients to extreme psychological stress to observe their breaking points up to and including death. Brooke and Hayden must find a way out before they too are terminated in the name of Dr. Bloom’s nefarious experiments. Fast-paced and tense, THE UNIT delves into themes of mental health, autonomy, and the ethics of psychiatric care.
