About the Role

The News Producer at Fox 29 works within the newsroom editorial team, producing content for both broadcast television and the station’s streaming and OTT distribution channels, including FOX LOCAL and LiveNOW from FOX. A typical day involves story selection, writing and producing rundowns, running the control room during live newscasts, and developing digital-first segments for on-demand audiences. The station produces approximately 1,300 hours of local news per week across the FOX Television Stations group, so the volume and pace of broadcast news production here is genuine.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce all elements of daily newscasts, including leads, story packages, teases, and breakout segments for linear broadcast.
• Run editorial control of the control room during live shows and breaking news situations, making real-time decisions on coverage and rundown changes.
• Mine social media for developing stories and integrate verified content into broadcast and digital news coverage.
• Pitch and produce segments built specifically for OTT and streaming platforms, developing show concepts that work for on-demand viewers rather than repurposing linear content.
• Participate in story selection and editorial planning, applying strong news judgment across local, national, and breaking news events.
• Use audience flow data, ratings, and meter information to inform editorial decisions and help drive demographically targeted content.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 2 to 3 years producing TV newscasts in a medium to major market newsroom environment.
• Demonstrated writing and broadcast news production skills, including rundown management and live show execution.
• Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems and standard television production techniques used in local news workflows.
• Strong editorial judgment with a track record of active decision-making under the pressures of live television.
• A background in entertainment or talk programming is a plus, particularly for streaming content development.
• A four-year college degree is preferred.
