£25,000 plus travel expenses where applicable.
Location
Open to everyone in the UK. Training and development primarily in London and Salford, with travel paid for those based elsewhere.

About the Scheme
BBC Open Music is a training and development scheme bringing together creatives, musicians, and aspiring radio or technical producers from all genres. It offers a paid 6‑month programme with either Radio & Live Events Production or Technical Production
.
What Trainees Will Do
- Work with a matched mentor, including BBC radio production staff and sound engineers.
- Attend masterclasses, training days specific to Radio & Live Events Production or Technical Production, and gain hands‑on experience with BBC Radio 3, the Proms and BBC Concert Orchestra.
- Network, build contacts and form relationships across Radio & Music at the BBC.
- Gain live event experience through working with BBC teams on music radio productions, including a BBC Concert Orchestra collaboration for BBC Radio 3’s Friday Night is Music Night.
- In Radio & Live Events Production, contribute to creative team ideas for compelling audio, identify, research and book contributors/guests, work live output in studio or on location, create music or speech segments of programmes.
Eligibility
- Be 18 years old or over by entry date.
- Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration.
- Not previously worked at the BBC or gained experience through a BBC scheme.
Criteria for All Applicants
- Have a desire to learn and explore classical music broadcasting at the BBC.
- Have a passion for sharing music with others.
- Show excitement to collaborate with others, especially other BBC Open Music trainees and teams across BBC Radio and Music.
Criteria for Radio & Live Events Production Pathway
- Interest in exploring a career as a radio producer.
- Passion for creating radio and audio to platform music, to tell stories and connect with audiences.
