Job Position(s): Maya TD
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Rodeo FX is hiring a Maya TD to join their VFX pipeline team in Montreal. This role sits at the intersection of technical support and tool development, keeping artists in modeling, texturing, and shot departments unblocked and productive across live VFX productions. It suits a technically grounded TD who knows Maya inside out and gets satisfaction from solving real production problems, not just writing code in isolation.

About the Role

The Maya TD works directly within the Pipeline department at Rodeo FX, supporting artists across multiple VFX projects simultaneously. Day to day, this person fields support tickets, troubleshoots asset and shot issues, builds and maintains tools that fit into the existing VFX pipeline, and keeps publishing workflows running cleanly. It is a hands-on role where the work shows up immediately in what artists can and cannot do each day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line technical support to artists on assets and shots, diagnosing and resolving issues within active VFX production timelines.
  • Design and optimize asset workflows across departments, identifying bottlenecks and driving consistency throughout the pipeline.
  • Build, maintain, and document scalable tools in Autodesk Maya that integrate cleanly with the broader production pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain publishing tools for modeling and texturing, validating assets against technical specifications and data integrity requirements.
  • Perform QC on assets and address review notes to ensure deliverables meet production standards before they move downstream.
  • Ensure cross-DCC interoperability within the pipeline, adapting Maya workflows to the specific technical environment of each production.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience as a Maya TD or Pipeline TD in a VFX studio or post-production environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of Autodesk Maya, including scripting and tool development within production pipelines.
  • Experience with publishing workflows, asset validation, and QC processes across modeling and texturing departments.
  • Familiarity with cross-DCC pipelines and the technical handoffs between content creation applications.
  • Credits on VFX-heavy feature film or episodic television productions are a strong asset.

Why This Role

Rodeo FX is a well-established VFX studio with credits spanning major feature film and episodic television productions, with studios across Montreal and other markets. The Maya TD position here offers direct involvement in production-level pipeline work, not internal R&D removed from the floor. For a TD who wants their tools to matter to artists on real shows, this is a practical and credible place to build that career.

Apply now for the Maya TD role at Rodeo FX and bring your pipeline expertise to one of Montreal’s leading VFX studios.
