Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring a Manager, Global Creative Strategy & Research – Theatrical based in Culver City, California. This role sits within the Global Creative Strategy and Research team, where the work directly shapes how theatrical film campaigns are built, tested, and adjusted across domestic and international markets. It’s a fit for a market research professional who understands the entertainment industry well enough to translate audience data into decisions that actually move a campaign.

About the Role

The Global Creative Strategy and Research team at Sony Pictures Entertainment functions as an internal intelligence operation for the theatrical marketing division, running studies that inform everything from trailer testing to global release positioning on high-profile feature film campaigns. This manager-level position carries title lead responsibility on select releases, meaning you own the research narrative for a film from greenlight through opening weekend and beyond. A typical week involves overseeing vendor fieldwork, synthesizing tracking data, and presenting findings to senior marketing leadership who are actively making spend and creative decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end quantitative and qualitative research programs across multiple theatrical releases, serving as the primary research point of contact on assigned titles throughout the full campaign lifecycle.
  • Synthesize survey results, advertising testing, domestic and international tracking, focus group findings, social insights, and box office forecasting inputs into clear strategic recommendations for senior marketing leadership.
  • Design research methodologies, questionnaires, discussion guides, and vendor briefs while maintaining analytical rigor and data quality across all global studies.
  • Manage external research vendor relationships, holding partners accountable to quality standards, timelines, and budgets while driving continuous process improvement.
  • Oversee weekly global tracking and contribute to executive reporting that informs campaign direction and investment decisions across international markets.
  • Coach junior analysts and coordinate day-to-day workflow with support staff, contributing to professional development across the research team.

What You Bring

  • Five or more years of experience in market research, consumer insights, or entertainment research, with demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-visibility projects independently.
  • Deep fluency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including audience segmentation, brand positioning, advertising testing, and focus group moderation or analysis.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and survey platforms, with SPSS experience preferred.
  • Experience working with AI-enabled research tools to synthesize insights and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Strong executive presentation skills, including experience communicating research findings to senior leadership in a studio or agency environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus.

Why This Role

Sony Pictures Entertainment has one of the most active theatrical slates in the industry, which means this position offers consistent exposure to high-profile feature film campaigns across global markets rather than occasional project work. The Manager, Global Creative Strategy & Research – Theatrical role reports into senior research leadership and carries real influence over how campaigns are shaped, not just documented. The anticipated base salary for this position is $92,879 to $120,743, and the role may also qualify for annual incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
