Netflix

Job Type
Netflix is hiring a Manager, Generative Workflows in Los Angeles, California to sit within its Production Technology and Media Operations team. This role is the connective tissue between GenAI tooling and real episodic television and feature film production, translating what works in the lab into repeatable, production-ready workflows across the US and Canada slate. It suits a senior production technologist or VFX pipeline veteran who has actually shipped AI-assisted work under creative and schedule pressure, not just evaluated it.
About the Role
The Production Technology and Media Operations team works directly with filmmakers, showrunners, post supervisors, and VFX vendors on the Netflix UCAN slate. The Manager, Generative Workflows consults on where generative AI measurably improves quality, speed, or cost inside real production pipelines, covering previs, look development, matte painting, editorial assists, and temp audio. A typical day involves assessing a show’s schedule constraints, prototyping a workflow in tools like Runway or ComfyUI, and briefing a VFX supervisor on where AI fits and where it doesn’t.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify schedule and complexity challenges across the UCAN slate where GenAI could reduce iteration time, including in previs, matte painting, look dev, pitch boards, and temp VO or SFX.
- Design rapid prototypes and case studies using tools including Runway, Veo 3, Luma, ElevenLabs, Stable Diffusion, Flux, ComfyUI, Nuke, Maya, Unreal Engine, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe applications.
- Work directly with directors, editors, VFX supervisors, and vendors to translate creative direction into prompts, tuning strategies, and pipeline steps that serve the specific production.
- Map minimum viable AI workflows into pre-production, production, and post-production pipelines, covering data specs, color management, metadata, and format interchange requirements.
- Produce show-ready demos, before-and-after breakdowns, and upskilling sessions for production partners, while building evaluation frameworks for UCAN GenAI vendors and talent.
- Aggregate field insights from productions into quarterly recommendations for Netflix product, engineering, legal, and creative innovation teams to inform internal tool investment decisions.
What You Bring
- 15 or more years in film, series, or VFX production with hands-on creative supervision or pipeline experience through major technology transitions from nascent to scaled.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of AI-based image, video, and audio tools in production or high-stakes prototyping environments, not just evaluation or research.
- Deep familiarity with post-production workflow and VFX pipeline conventions, including color management, format specs, and vendor interchange standards.
- Working knowledge of copyright, IP considerations, guild and union rules as they apply to AI-generated content in episodic television and feature film contexts.
- Experience consulting across creative and technical stakeholders, including showrunners, post executives, and VFX vendors at the same time.
Why This Role
Netflix produces one of the largest and most varied slates in the industry, which means the Manager, Generative Workflows will work across a genuine range of production types, budgets, and creative challenges rather than a narrow niche. The Production Technology and Media Operations team has direct access to filmmakers and vendors, so the work influences real production decisions rather than sitting in an internal advisory function. This is one of the few roles in the industry currently building the actual playbook for GenAI in production workflows rather than theorizing about it.
Apply now for the Manager, Generative Workflows position at Netflix and bring your production and pipeline experience to the team shaping how generative AI gets used on real shows.
