Little Shop of Horrors is a full musical production with a cast receiving stipends for their work throughout the rehearsal and performance run. Actors will move through a structured audition and rehearsal process typical of community and independent theatrical production, working alongside a credited creative team. The production is grounded in comedic musical theatre performance, requiring actors who can deliver character-driven material with strong vocal technique.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a role in a fully staged musical theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors from rehearsal through closing night.
  • Prepare and execute comedic monologue work and musical audition cuts that reflect your range as a performer.
  • Work within a choreographed musical theatre production, taking direction from both the music director and choreographer.
  • Learn and perform role-specific musical cuts, including material from Skid Row, Be A Dentist, and Suddenly Seymour depending on casting.
  • Maintain professional rehearsal conduct consistent with the production schedule set by First Impressions Theatre.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to serve the comedic and musical demands of the piece as written.

What You Bring

  • Experience in musical theatre performance, whether through community theatre, independent production, or formal training.
  • Strong comedic acting instincts and the ability to prepare a polished 1 to 2 minute comedic monologue for audition.
  • Solid vocal ability with experience preparing and delivering an audition cut in a musical theatre context.
  • Familiarity with the Little Shop of Horrors score is helpful, though audition material must be drawn from outside the show.
  • Ability to work within an accessible rehearsal and performance environment at First Impressions Theatre facilities in Vancouver.
