Key Responsibilities

• Write broadcast scripts for newscasts and news segments that meet the editorial standards of a major-market television news operation.
• Build and shape rundowns, making real-time editorial decisions about story selection, order, and pacing throughout the show.
• Edit video packages and booth live newscasts from the control room as needed.
• Cover breaking news with accuracy and speed, adjusting rundowns and rewriting copy as stories develop on air.
• Create graphics and manage timing across all elements of a live newscast.
• Coordinate directly with producers, reporters, editors, directors, and the assignment desk to move content through the production pipeline on deadline.

What You Bring

• A minimum of two years of television news writing or news producing experience in a broadcast environment.
• Strong broadcast writing skills and the editorial judgment to make independent decisions under deadline pressure.
• Experience line producing live newscasts is a clear advantage for this role.
• Familiarity with Dalet, non-linear editing systems, Ross graphics, and touchscreen production technology is preferred.
• Major-market newsroom experience is preferred, though equivalent credits will be considered.
• This position is covered under the NABET-CWA ABC Master Agreement, and candidates should be familiar with union work environments.
