We’ve outgrown the contractor model. We’re bringing videography fully in-house — and we’re looking for the person who’ll own it.
This is a hands-on, outcome-driven role. From filming through to final delivery, your work will directly impact how businesses attract customers and grow.
You’ll work closely with Rockmelon’s content, ads, and project teams to produce high-quality, conversion-focused video content for:
– Meta ads (Facebook & Instagram)
– TikTok
– Short-form and UGC-style performance content
– Rockmelon’s own brand and socials (we practise what we preach)
– Select brand and long-form pieces where required

Before you read further — this role is built around four non-negotiables:
1. You’re comfortable working with tradies and service-based businesses.
This isn’t a fashion brand. Most of the content you’ll make is on a worksite — in a half-built kitchen, on a roof, next to an excavator, or in a van. If you’re only comfortable shooting in studios or with polished brand clients, this isn’t the role for you.
2. You can direct people who have never been on camera before.
Our clients are business owners and tradespeople. Most have never held a script. Many are nervous, awkward, or convinced they’re not “camera people.” Your job is to walk onto their site, build trust in 5 minutes, and get a usable performance in under 10 takes — without making them feel stupid. This is a skill, not a personality trait. If you’ve got it, you know.
3. You edit at a high level — and fast.
This is not a “we’ll find an editor later” hire. Your edits run in paid media across Meta and TikTok the same week they’re filmed. That means tight pacing, strong hook construction, clean captions, pattern interrupts, and cuts that hold attention in the first 2 seconds. Fast doesn’t mean lazy — it means you’ve done it enough times that quality is baked in. If your edits still take a week to finalise, this role will crush you.
4. You turn content around fast.
Our world moves in 24–72 hour turnarounds, not two-week creative cycles. Filming Monday, edits delivered Wednesday. Hook variants by Friday. If that pace scares you, stop reading. If that pace excites you, keep going.

This is a full-time in-house role.
Not a contractor role dressed up as full-time. Not a side layer on top of existing freelance clients. We’re hiring the person who’ll make Rockmelon their primary creative home — the person whose reel over the next 12 months becomes a case study in performance content for service businesses.
If you’re currently running freelance or contractor work you want to keep running alongside this role — we’re not the right fit for each other. No hard feelings. But the person in this seat is all-in on Rockmelon.
The role (what this actually looks like)
– Producing 10+ pieces of client content per week
– Filming and editing end-to-end — you shoot it, you cut it
– Travelling to client sites across Sydney metro (plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, landscapers, service operators)
– Full-time permanent role, hybrid based in Sydney
– Your own gear ideally (bonus) — equipment contribution available for the right person
– Your own transport is essential
This role suits someone with an owner’s mindset — reliable, organised, fast, and proud of the work they put their name on.
Day to day, you’ll be:
– Filming and editing high-quality short-form video content for paid social and organic
– Walking onto worksites confidently and adapting to whatever conditions you find
– Directing business owners and tradies on camera — getting usable performances from people who’ve never been filmed before
– Editing every piece of content you shoot with fast 24–72 hour turnarounds
– Producing up to 6 hook variants per main video so we can test and scale winners in paid media
– Capturing UGC-style content on both pro camera and phone, and cutting it into Meta-ready variants
– Adding captions, sound design, pace adjustments, and pattern interrupts that stop the scroll
– Creating content for Rockmelon’s own socials
– Studying what’s winning on Meta and TikTok and pulling that structure back into every edit
– Owning the production process end-to-end: plan → shoot → edit → deliver
This role is for you if:
Filming:
– You’ve got 2+ years shooting branded short-form content
– You have a portfolio or reel that proves it — bonus if it includes trade, service, or non-professional talent
– You shoot direct-response content, not just aesthetic videos
– You can frame, light, and capture clean audio in unpredictable field conditions
Editing (this is half the role — take it seriously):
– You’re fluent in Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve (CapCut is a supplement, not a primary tool)
– You cut a 30-second performance ad in a few hours, not a few days
– You understand hook construction, retention curves, and what kills cold-audience performance in the first 2 seconds
– You’re fast and precise with captions, sound design, music, colour, and pacing
– You can produce multiple hook variants and UGC cuts from the same footage efficiently
– You’ve got strong taste — and know the difference between “looks nice” and “actually converts”
Directing:
– You can direct a nervous business owner or tradie through a script and make them feel comfortable doing it
– You’re calm, fast, and decisive on site
Operating style:
– You adapt to different brands, voices, and industries
– You thrive with multiple concurrent projects
– You’re creative, reliable, and deadline-driven
– You can hold up to 10 concurrent edit projects in flight without dropping the ball
– You genuinely care about whether the ad performs, not just whether it looks pretty
– You’re ready to commit fully to an in-house role — not splitting focus across existing freelance work
Bonus points if you bring:
– Your own gear — camera body, lenses, mics, drone, lighting kit
– Drone licence (CASA RePL or sub-2kg certified)
– Motion graphics or After Effects skillset for simple on-brand text animations
– TikTok-native creator instincts
– Experience filming on active worksites (site safety awareness, PPE, working around tools and machinery)
– Editing speed that scares people
