GenFX Supervisor

Eyeline, Netflix’s in-house VFX studio, is hiring a GenFX Supervisor based in Vancouver, Canada. This role leads the generative AI department, responsible for defining how AI-generated content is integrated into high-end VFX pipelines across film and episodic television production. About the Role

The GenFX department sits at the intersection of traditional VFX pipeline work and emerging generative AI toolsets, supporting compositing, CG, and DMP teams across Netflix productions. The GenFX Supervisor owns the creative and technical direction for every AI-augmented shot, from rapid look-dev through final pixel delivery. Day to day, that means running creative reviews, troubleshooting generative setups, and working directly with Show Supervisors to translate their vision into executable workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary creative liaison between the GenFX department and Show Supervisors, Producers, and studio management across active productions.
• Architect and oversee scalable hybrid pipelines that bring generative AI outputs into traditional VFX post-production workflows, covering compositing, CG, and DMP handoffs.
• Define and enforce quality standards for all GenFX deliverables, including ACES/OCIO color management, resolution, temporal consistency, and artifact remediation protocols.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including Gaussian splatting and new diffusion models, and determine their readiness for active production use.
• Lead training strategy across the GenFX team, identifying skill gaps, designing content, and building a culture of knowledge-sharing and experimentation.
• Drive bidding, scheduling, and resourcing for GenFX work, and communicate AI capabilities and limitations clearly to producers and supervisors.

What You Bring

• Eight or more years in high-end VFX for film or episodic television, with at least two years in a Lead or Supervisory role.
• Deep working knowledge of generative AI methods, including node-based systems such as ComfyUI and diffusion model pipelines, applied at a production VFX level.
• Advanced proficiency in Nuke, including complex projections, tracking, multi-pass compositing, and template management.
• Strong working knowledge of Maya, Houdini, or Blender for blocking, depth map generation, and hybrid 3D/AI workflows, with USD/Alembic pipeline experience preferred.
• A portfolio showing successful integration of AI-generated content into professional VFX deliverables at a feature film or high-end episodic level.
