About Us
House of Films is a Calgary-based production studio dedicated to crafting compelling, high-quality cinematic narratives. We focus on elevating independent storytelling with industry-standard production values, bringing intense, character-driven stories to life for global audiences.
The Project
We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Film Composer for an upcoming action short film. This project is a high-octane, independent short narrative that requires a dynamic and propulsive original score. We are looking for an intense cinematic soundscape with modern hybrid elements that can drive the pacing of intense action sequences.
The Role
As the Film Composer, you will be responsible for creating the original background score for the short film. You will work remotely alongside our post-production team to ensure the music perfectly elevates the visual pacing, emotional beats, and hard-hitting action of the cut.
Key Responsibilities:
• Compose, arrange, and produce an original, high-quality score tailored to an action/thriller short film.
• Deliver a polished, high-caliber sound score that builds tension and matches the intensity of fast-paced action sequences.
• Collaborate remotely with the director and post-production team to spot the film, review feedback, and revise cues.
• Deliver fully mixed, separated audio stems ready for the final 5.1/stereo sound mix.
Requirements:
• Proven Action Experience: A strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing previous work specifically in action films, thrillers, or high-stakes cinematic trailers.
• High Quality Sound: Demonstrated ability to produce massive, modern cinematic music (orchestral, hybrid-synth, or heavy percussion).
• Remote Workflow: A fully equipped remote home studio with the ability to handle high-quality virtual instruments and deliver industry-standard audio files.
• Timing & Pacing: Exceptional intuition for hitting sync points, scoring to picture, and driving narrative momentum through music.
• Professionalism: Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to creative feedback.
Compensation:
This is a paid contract role. Rate will be negotiated based on experience and portfolio.
How to Apply:
