Extras Needed in Vancouver

We are happy that you are interested in working as a background performer with Hollywood North Extras. We hope your experience will be a good one!

Please read our EXTRAS INFORMATION before applying so that you understand what is involved in being an extra as well as making sure you are suited for this type of work. When we book you on a set you are a representative of Hollywood North Extras and therefore we ask that only people who are serious about being movie extras apply. Please note that we have a roster of reliable and responsible people that we have been working with for many years. We book new people as often as possible however that may mean booking 1 new person to 10 experienced extras. It may take a bit of time to become a familiar face.

It is best to be available as much as possible and consistently filling out your online availability calendar. When the film industry is busy we are booking a lot of people!

Have someone take a head and shoulders picture of you (they typically look much better than a selfie!). Please take the picture against a solid background with a nice smile. Ideally hair and makeup done for women and clean shaven for men unless you have facial hair. It is best to wear a nice top with a good colour to make it pop a little. Please make sure that the pictures are no bigger than 2 mg and are clear and well lit.

You can include other photos as well: A full length picture or different hair/makeup styles. You can include pictures of “props” as well. We book clients to work on set with their vehicle (referred to as picture vehicles on set). If you have a well-behaved dog that you would be interested in working with you can send us a picture of it as well. You are paid a “rental” for their use. Please note that you can send us additional pictures at a later date to apply the most important one is the head and shoulders pic

Please fill out the application completely. It is important that we have your current sizes as we refer to this information to fit a specific costume size such as nurse or police officer. We need to know the type of wardrobe you have such as business wardrobe for an office scene, dressy clothes for an upscale restaurant, nightclub clothes etc. Please include if you have a car. Productions film all over the lower mainland from Whistler to Hope. If you do not list a vehicle we assume that you are on transit and can only get to sets that are transit accessible.

Once your application has been reviewed you will receive and email to confirm that you have been accepted to join the roster of Hollywood North Extras. Typically, this takes about a week. At that time, we will give you further instructions as to how to complete your online profile and fill out your calendar so that your profile is viewable to casting. We hope that sums it up!
