INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – Updated June 2026
DreamWorks Talent Development Programs: Internships, Trainee, Fellowship & Animator Apprentice
DreamWorks offers students and recent graduates the chance to work alongside artists and storytellers across TV and Feature Animation. These programs give participants a genuine look inside real productions, hands-on experience with the 2D and CG pipeline, and a feel for what a creative studio environment is actually like.
Internship Program
Internships run three times a year (Spring, Summer, and Fall), are paid, last 10 weeks, and are offered remotely and/or hybrid depending on the department. They’re open to current students and recent graduates (grads should apply within six months of graduation).
Fall 2026 timeline:
- Applications open: June 15, 2026
- Applications close: June 29, 2026
- Program runs: September to December
Departments that typically offer internships include Visual Development, Image Finaling, Story, Feature/TV Animation Production, Business Affairs/Legal, Current/Preschool Series, Development, Employee Engagement & Events, Human Resources, Marketing, Music, Publicity, Software Engineering, Talent Relations & Casting, and Technical Direction. Specific offerings vary by season.
The ideal intern is curious, hungry to learn, passionate about animation, proactive, comfortable with feedback, confident making decisions, self-motivated, unafraid to ask questions, and brings a positive attitude (while not taking themselves too seriously).
Trainee Program
A full-time, paid, 12-week immersive program offered annually. Trainees work directly on a Television or Feature production while following a structured curriculum taught by industry and studio professionals, with directors and artists serving as mentors. Open to recent college graduates within five years of graduation, or to those pivoting from another career or industry.
LAUNCH: Fellowship Program
A virtual talent-development program (no relocation required) built around an 8-week curriculum of workshops, courses, and speaker series. Fellows build a professional network, attend workshops, and receive mentorship from DreamWorks professionals, with a stipend on successful completion. The program is focused on supporting driven students from underrepresented communities and is open to students and recent graduates from a range of backgrounds.
Animator Apprentice Program
A 12-week, full-time, paid intensive within Feature Animation, open to graduates with less than two years of industry experience and covered by the Animation Guild. Apprentices train through assignments focused on building animation skills, mentored by the Resident Program Lead and individual mentors. On completion, apprentices can move into cycles animation and, from there, toward Assistant Animator roles.
